Not long ago, I purchased Metal Slug for NeoGeo on the Wii Virtual Console. I’ve purchased (probably too) many games on VC in the past and had no problems. But with this one, I immediately ran into a problem, the game wouldn’t display properly. Some resarching showed this was a well known problem with VC NeoGeo games and component video progressive scan output. I didn’t feel like switching my Wii to a different video output, so I ignored it for a while.

Sunday night, I re-setup wireless on my Wii, after having recently done some network config changes and did an update on the Wii out of habbit that all updates must be applied. (See also the video game rule of All Objectives Must Be Completed.) Wondering why I bothered, I decided I’d test the only thing I knew to be wrong with the Wii, which was the NeoGeo game bug. And amazingly I discovered that it was working! Huzzah! I was able to play Metal Slug, which made me very happy.

So hurray for Nintendo for fixing this bug. This is one customer that’s happier to see a bug fix than a new feature.

Apple Giveth, Apple Taketh Away:

Leopard’s FrontRow *STILL* can’t connect to AirTunes. Come on guys, this used to be there. (Some have a theory this is to convince people to buy an AppleTV. Well, I hope not, cause that’s not a very compelling marketing strategy.)

Time Capsule issue:

Had to do a new full backup when I setup the Time Capsule rather than use my Time Machine backups that go all the way back to January. I mentioned this before, but it belongs in this wrap up gripe list.

A few positive things, just so I won’t sound so grumpy:

I’m liking Twinkle a lot.
GrandDialer looks cool, gotta try it soon.
Hoping Apple doesn’t force my iPhone to delete the PhoneSaber app.
Wishing I’d gotten BoxOffice before it was pulled. Still can’t make any sense out of why it was pulled.
pTerm is cool, but haven’t had too much use for it yet, since I usually have my laptop with me too.
Need more recommendations for good iPhone apps, anyone got any recommendations?
Got Sam’s new phone in, AT&T wasn’t too bad to deal with as far as getting her number ported over. Took a while to get the right department, but then it was easy. (Verizon’s online system is very confused that I have no phones in my account, but I’m happy. )
